Special Childrens Committee

We, as Elks, have continually taken a great deal of pride in talking about our Special Needs Children’s Committee’s works. However deeds are always better than words therefore we must practice what we preach. We do this best by seeing to it that any special needs child needing help in our community is cared for by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Our aim is to help them become self-sustaining and productive citizens so that in the future they may enjoy a happy and normal life.

In the 1920’s PGER Joe Buch founded the Elks Special Children’s movement at Trenton 105 Lodge. At that time it was called the Elks Krippled Kiddies Fund. This movement, to aid special children would soon spread all over New Jersey and the nation under Joe’s leadership as Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks. Click Here for more info on Joe Buch from the State Elks Website

The Trenton Elks Lodge provides advice and assistance for the caring of special needs Children of every race, color, and creed. With our assistance the N.J State Elks have seen to it that more than 88 Handicapped Children have received college scholarships. Over 2400 children participate in the Poster Contest every year. Each year the Elks select four Area Poster Children

Elk’s Camp Moore provides Handicapped Children outdoor camping experience that would otherwise not be available.
